Senior Technical Writer (Contract)
Location: Amsterdam Country: Netherlands Rate: Euros 120 - 132 per hour
Senior Technical WriterAmsterdam €120 - €132 per hour 9 Months Responsibiliites:- Work with product managers and engineers to create and maintain internal and external documentation for APIs and supporting developer-oriented products
- Write documentation, detailed integration guides, code samples, API reference, and other artifacts in a clear and concise manner
- Interview experts, conduct independent research, and try out the technologies you're documenting to translate complex product information into clear, polished, engaging content that makes your target audience more successful
- Is responsible to maintain the relevance and quality of documentation by updating the content and content structure when required.
- Create templates and frameworks to bring quality and consistency to documentation across multiple teams, departments, and business units
- End-to-end documentation ownership
- Is responsible to own documentation efforts end to end by actively managing and monitoring quality and performance.
- Is responsible to independently manage a documentation platform using a docs-as-code approach, and Is comfortable working with version control systems, command line interfaces, and other common tools of software development
- Is responsible to address and resolve documentation issues by mitigating the customer impact.
- Information architectural guidance
- Reviews and consults on documentation efforts across the organisation.
- Encourages and enables non-writer roles to develop their writing skills.
- Has sufficient knowledge to test any new or existing product to help product teams identify potential issues and improve upon their product.
- Regularly keeps stakeholders in the loop, and communicates updates on timelines, progress and potential roadblocks
Skills:- +6 years industry experience in writing technical documentation
- Extensive experience documenting APIs
- Experience with version control systems (such as Git)
- Experience with building or major contribution to developer portals
- Experience with static site generators (eg Mkdocs, Jekyll, Hugo) and lightweight markup languages (eg Markdown, AsciiDoc, reStructuredText)
- Ability to work well independently with multiple stakeholders and excellent communication skills
- Ability to translate complex technical ideas into concise, useful content for audiences of various backgrounds
